The University Grants Commission (UGC) has upgraded LU with the graded autonomy category 1 status. Now, Lucknow University will be able to explore new frontiers in education, research, innovation, and several other areas.

Some benefits of the upgrade include the authority to provide skill-based education, introducing new courses and online learning programmes, and establishing new campuses without UGC approval.

Furthermore, LU will now have complete autonomy to admit students from abroad, hire foreign faculty, and forge partnerships with international institutes.
