Knocksense Shorts| UP launches free blood transfusion facility for pregnant women

The new rule has to be adhered to by all state-run hospitals and medical facilities.

Uttar Pradesh government is all set to plod on an inspirational cause where pregnant women will be given with free blood transfusion facility in hours of need. Moreover, their kin will not be required to donate blood in exchange for the service.

The said communique was issued by the Health and Family Welfare Minister of UP and applies to all government hospitals and institutions in the state. Further, as a part of this, National Health Mission has allocated ₹20 crore for general tests/diagnosis of pregnant women and another ₹3.93 crore for ultrasound tests. About 90% of this amount has already been distributed to districts to execute the costless facility. Additionally, the govenemnt has also made free-of-cost arrangements for transporting pregnant women via ambulances to hospitals before and after delivery.
