Knocksense Shorts | UP to use Netherland's Early Warning System to stop students from dropping out

The initiative will start from schools in 4 UP districts.

Aditya Vikram

The Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Department has taken a leaf out of Netherland's book to adopt the "Early Warning System" in schools of Bahraich, Balrampur, Gonda, and Shravasti.

Under this system, the authorities will keep an eye on students who remain absent from school. And as soon as a child stays absent for more than 40 days, the education department will contact the student's guardians.

The authorities will identify the cause behind the child not turning up and ensure that he/she returns to school. Furthermore, the department has also notified school principals to devise a proper strategy to ensure no child from their school drops out.
