The recent development regarding the construction of new airports across various districts in Uttar Pradesh has been in the headlines for the past few years. Among the total of 10 new airports planned, some are currently in the construction phase, while some of the facilities stand ready for operations.

Notably, the Uttar Pradesh Special Security Force (UPSSF) has now been entrusted with the responsibility of security for the 7 newly constructed airports, which include Ayodhya, Chitrakoot, Sonbhadra, Shravasti, Aligarh, Moradabad, and Azamgarh.

In a significant move, the Principal Secretary of the Home Department, Sanjay Prasad, issued the official order on Oct 20, outlining the deployment of UPSSF personnel at these airports. The specialized UPSSF division has been raised on the lines of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).
