Nawab Wajid Ali Shah Zoological Garden or Lucknow Zoo is a rejuvenating retreat for children and adults to take a break and embrace the rich flora and fauna. Adding more to the zoo’s life, a gharial/gavial mother has given birth to 10 offspring on July 1. With this, the total number of gavials at Lucknow Zoo has reached 28.

As per officials, this is the second consecutive year when Lucknow zoo has welcomed gharial offsprings. There are seven fertile gavials at the zoo right now, including three males and four females. Most of them look identical. Hence, Zoo Assistant Director, Dr Utkarsh Shukla is still unsure if it’s the same gharial mother who gave birth last year. Official statement in this regard will be released soon.

PS: Before planning your outing to see these newcomers, remember that Lucknow Zoo Park is closed every Monday.
