Liquor shops, bars in Lucknow to remain shut on Independence Day

Strict action to be taken against violators.

In observance of Independence Day, all liquor shops and bars across Uttar Pradesh, including Lucknow, will remain closed on August 15. Lucknow District Magistrate has issued stringent orders enforcing this 24-hour dry day, with warnings of strict action against any establishments found violating the directive.

The annual measure, implemented to maintain law and order during national celebrations, applies to all alcohol-serving establishments including hotels, restaurants, and clubs. Authorities will conduct special inspections to ensure compliance, with penalties for violators.

This closure aligns with similar dry day observances nationwide, ensuring peaceful and respectful Independence Day commemorations. The restriction will be lifted at midnight, with normal operations resuming on August 16.
