Lucknow Airport: Repairs extended to Aug 15, weekly closures, new facilities & more

The expansion aims to cater to rising passenger traffic.

Round-the-clock flight operations at Lucknow’s Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport will remain suspended until August 15, as runway repairs continue. Currently, the runway is closed daily from 11 AM to 3 PM for maintenance work.

In a fresh NOTAM (Notice to Airmen), aviation authorities have also announced additional weekly closures every Wednesday, from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM. These scheduled Wednesday restrictions will be in effect from August 20 to November 5. Airport officials strongly recommend passengers verify their flight schedules in advance to avoid potential disruptions during these periods.

New hotels, malls to serve growing passenger traffic

In addition to runway improvements, Lucknow Airport is also expanding its commercial facilities. A 110-acre plot in front of the airport will soon be developed under the City Site Development Plan, featuring hotels, shopping malls, convention centres, and entertainment zones.

The expansion aims to cater to rising passenger traffic, which grew by 7.7% in FY 2024-25. Post-expansion, the airport’s annual capacity will increase from 80 lakh to 1.16 crore passengers. A new 200-room hotel will be built, allowing passengers to book rooms along with their flight tickets.

Lucknow's upcoming development

Beyond the airport upgrades, Lucknow's infrastructure development continues with major projects like Charbagh's modern bus terminal (developed through PPP) and resolution of chronic land disputes. This comprehensive urban overhaul, including new high-rises and transport networks, is set to solidify the city's status as UP's leading metropolitan hub.
