Lucknow is all set to get a makeover, on the account of the upcoming UP Global Investors Summit and the G20 Summit, in February 2023. Apart from Lucknow, the G20 meetings will also take place in UP's Varanasi, Agra and Gautam Buddha Nagar, and a makeover is in the plans for these cities too. The municipal corporation commissioners of these 4 districts have been asked to start the preparations in advance.

Lucknow to receive a major facelift

Various works including road revamp and beautification projects are already underway in Lucknow. The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) is working on the revival of a five-kilometre heritage corridor from Kaiserbagh to Husainabad. With this, the authorities will also work on beautifying the historical monuments falling in the area with facade lighting by February next year.

Eight monuments that will get a facelift include- Bada Imambara, Chhota Imambara, Clock Tower, Naubat Khana, Rumi Darwaza, Sadat Ali Khan's tomb, Kothi Darshan Vilas and Kothi Gulistan-e-Iram. The move is designed to promote night tourism in the area for which tenders for various works have already been floated.

More about the makeover plans for other UP cities

Alongside the Lucknow city makeover, the facelift procedure for other three UP districts is also in plans. Under this, authorities will put up welcome gates at prominent places. Flower pots, vertical gardens, and wall paintings representing the cultural and historical value of the city will also be lined up.
