Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkar on Thursday announced the construction of a new e-way link between Delhi and Lucknow, furthering the plan to better connect the two cities. As of now, Delhi and Lucknow are connected via the Yamuna and Taj Expressway through Agra.

The new e-way will cast a direct road between the two cities, reducing the travel time by half. The Minister further informed that the foundation laying ceremony of the said road is likely to be held in the next 10 to 12 days, in the presence of the UP Chief Minister.

The scheme was introduced during the inauguration ceremony of the intelligent transport system (ITS) on the Eastern Peripheral Expressway in the state. The ITS is a revolutionary, state-of-the-art technology that will launch a new era of smart and green highways in India. It will also help enhance the safety of commuters by preventing road accidents and mishaps.
