NHAI to renovate Lucknow-Kanpur National Highway; four lanes to be added near Nawabganj Tollbooth

NHAI has approved the project with a budget of ₹250 crores

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has approved the renovation project of the Lucknow-Kanpur National Highway 27 (NH 27) at an estimated cost of ₹250 crores. The repaired roads will have a more robust bead surface, which will help the asphalt last longer.

Reportedly, the pedestrians from nearby villages and towns are always at risk of accidents due to heavy traffic, in order to do so, authorities have planned to construct underpasses at various locations.

New lanes to end traffic snarls at Nawabganj Toll

As per the survey conducted by the NHAI Chairman, Alka Upadhyay in March 2022, Dahi Chowki, Ajgain, Gagankheda, and Azad Nagar turn are the most accidents and traffic-prone spots. Reportedly, the road segments at these locations will be entirely rebuilt and improved under the new project.

Moreover, service lanes will be renovated to reduce the traffic and risk of accidents. Noticing the congestion of vehicles at the Nawabganj Toll Plaza, four more lanes will be added at the toll plaza and hi-tech fastag sensors will be installed to ensure passenger convenience.
