In a major infrastructure boost, the Uttar Pradesh government has officially approved the high-speed Lucknow-Kanpur Rapid Rail project. Developed by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), the 67-kilometre "Namo Bharat" corridor will connect Amausi Airport in Lucknow to Kanpur Central via Unnao.

The project promises to revolutionise intercity travel, slashing the current two-hour road journey to just 40 minutes. The new rail network will integrate key economic zones, industrial hubs, and residential areas, boosting both business and tourism.

Rapid Rail set to decongest highways, boost economy

Trains will run at a top speed of 160 km/h, featuring modern coaches equipped with air-conditioning, Wi-Fi, and advanced security systems.

The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) will prepare the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for this project. This rapid rail will seamlessly integrate key economic zones, industrial areas, and residential hubs along the Lucknow-Unnao-Kanpur belt, boosting business, tourism, and regional development.

By decongesting highways and offering a sustainable, high-capacity transport alternative, the corridor sets a new benchmark for modern, commuter-friendly travel in India, marking a significant leap forward for Uttar Pradesh's infrastructure.
