The second phase of Lucknow Metro is ready for construction, set to begin in April, with all preparations finalised. The new East-West Corridor will stretch 11.5 km from Charbagh to Vasant Kunj, featuring 12 stations, seven underground and five elevated. The project, expected to take five years, will cost around ₹5,800 crore, according to the UP Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC).

Groundwork set, stations to enhance connectivity

The groundwork, including soil testing, aerial surveys, and underground mapping of sewer and utility pipelines, has already been done, ensuring a smooth construction process. The DPR (Detailed Project Report) has been approved, and the Network Planning Group (NPG) has given the green light.

Once completed, this corridor will enhance connectivity and reduce travel time across Lucknow. The underground stations will include Charbagh, Gautam Buddha Marg, Aminabad, Pandeyganj, City Railway Station, Medical Chauraha, and Chowk, while the elevated ones will be at Thakurganj, Balaganj, Musa Bagh, Sarfaraz Ganj, and Basant Kunj.
