Lucknow metro is on the fast track to development and the metro rail network is becoming a thing of reality. In the past few months, we have seen several trial runs, construction of new metro lines in various parts of the city such as Hazratganj, Nishatganj, Badshanagar and a few other places.
Most of the city is undergoing a major change and the existing metro line- the Airport to Munshipuliya route (aka the North-South corridor) is now undergoing it’s final trial run.

Trial runs for the entire route have begun already. Till now, the operational trial runs were only from Munshipuliya to Charbagh and began on January 12. From Monday, the entire metro corridor from Chaudhary Charan Singh Airport to Munshipuliya will be under trials to make sure that it is fit for public use. The aforementioned trial runs will go on till the first week of February, after which an official launch date may be announced.
During the trial runs of the metro system, the trains will run from 11AM to 6PM, to check for any faults and confirm the rigidity of the metro system. As of now, the existing metro line sees about 11,000 to 12,000 passengers daily. The number of passengers often fluctuates due to a festival or an examination in the city. Alternatively, the system sees less footfall on holidays.
With the metros seeing so much traction, the LMRC has decided to let commuters know about the history and formation of the metro. To showcase this, they are planning on constructing a metro museum at Hazratganj metro station. The museum will be complete with murals, models of the metro route and selfie points.

LMRC officials went on to say that the reason for selecting Hazratganj station to be home to a metro museum was to make it centrally located and since it has a tendency to become one of the most busy stations of the city. Additionally, they plan to make the museum such that it can be visible from the metro as well, without commuters having to get off the train.
Moreover, the officials also mentioned the benefits of metros by saying they reduce travel times, amount of traffic on roads and make way for economic activities around the stations. We are eagerly looking forward to see how these changes and developments affect the city of Lucknow as a whole and how it is received by the masses.
