Lucknow Municipal Corporation has decided to redefine the bounds of containment zones in the city amid an exponential rise of coronavirus infection. While the active caseload is climbing a very steep graph here with 7,143 cases, the number of containment zones has also breached the 3,000-mark, raising alarms among district authorities to implement the fresh state guidelines. Now, in the case of a single infection, a 25-meter radius will be marked as the containment zone. On the other hand, in the case of a cluster (more than one case), the containment zone would cover a 50-metre radius.
LMC tasks officials to ensure strict enforcement of COVID guidelines
Until now, a COVID-19 containment zone was limited to the house of the infected patient and the entire lane for multiple cases. However, in view of the rapid rate of transmission, the administration will now expand the bounds of containment to a 25-meter radius, in case of one patient and over a 50-meter radius for more than one COVID case. Accordingly, the LMC has directed officials to implement the fresh state guidelines to control COVID-19, with strictness.
Reportedly, there are as many as 3,050 containment zones in Lucknow where Indira Nagar locality tops the list with 400 such areas. Next in line is Gomti Nagar with 300 containment zones, Alambagh with 200, Ashiana with 190 and Aliganj with 182 containment zones.
Door-to-door delivery system in containment zones
As movement is restricted to and from containment zones, the authorities have made elaborate arrangements for the benefit of the people residing in these affected areas. Under this, the district administration has decided to reintroduce door-to-door delivery of essential goods such as grocery in areas hosting containment zones.
The administration has also circulated a list of delivery boys, traders and shops among the people through local corporators. Adequate supplies of medicines and other essentials have been promised to the people round the clock, to prevent the situation from worsening.
