Lucknow's Charbagh Railway Station is currently undergoing a significant transformation, with both its main complex and the 'second entry' building (Cantt side) under construction. As part of the station’s revamp, the foot overbridge (FOB) connecting platforms one to seven was demolished in June last year. In its place, a modern concourse is being built to enhance passenger movement and convenience.

Reportedly, the redevelopment of the Charbagh Station is being carried out under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.

Upcoming second entry building, Charbagh Station (proposed model)

Notably, the FOB was the oldest and longest one at the Charbagh Railway Station. In its place, a 115-meter-long concourse is being constructed to seamlessly connect the first and the upcoming second entries of the station. The concourse will be 120 meters wide, enhancing passenger movement. Foundation work has already commenced on platforms six and seven.

Moreover, the second entrance complex of Charbagh Railway Station is set to be a state-of-the-art facility, designed like an airport terminal. The seven-story building will feature modern passenger amenities, including cloakrooms, dormitories, brand stores, lifts, escalators and more.

As part of the station's upgradation, several additional facilities will be introduced:

  • Two new platforms at Charbagh Station

  • Metro connectivity from both Charbagh and Lucknow Junction

  • Redevelopment of Charbagh Bus Stand into a modern bus terminal

  • Revamp of the cabway area for improved accessibility
