The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) and Municipal Corporation will will jointly develop new green belts on both banks of Kukrail River, complete with walking pathways, parks, and recreational zones. A 550-meter stretch will feature landscaped gardens, children’s play areas, and illuminated pathways for public use.

Simultaneous push for urban forests & river rejuvenation

District Magistrate of Lucknow inspected the ongoing Saumitra Forest project along Ayodhya Road. 14 out of 24.7 reclaimed acres are being developed into themed green zones with medicinal plants, food forests, and floral displays. To support growth, the site will have underground pipelines and pop-up sprinklers for automated irrigation.

Meanwhile, revival work continues on other rivers in Uttar Pradesh under the ‘One District-One River’ initiative. In Balrampur and Bahraich, the Suaon and Tedhi rivers are regaining their natural flow with help from public participation and MNREGA-generated employment. Activities include desilting, riverbank cleaning, and plantation drives. Officials say these efforts are crucial not just for water conservation but also for restoring ecological balance and boosting local livelihoods.
