In a move to regulate charitable food distribution within its premises, the KGMU administration has introduced new guidelines aimed at ensuring the safety and quality of meals. Traditionally, individuals and organisations have distributed food as an act of charity near the trauma centre and other departments. However, concerns over food quality have prompted the administration to tighten these practices.
As per the directives issued on Friday, food brought from outside will no longer be allowed for distribution within the campus.
Those intending to distribute food within the KGMU campus must comply with stringent guidelines to ensure food safety and quality:
Meals can only be prepared in the institution’s kitchen unless they come with FSSAI certification and prior approval from the university.
Interested individuals or organisations must collaborate with KGMU’s kitchen, selecting food items exclusively from the approved menu.
The cost of preparation must be deposited in advance and a receipt must be issued to the kitchen operator.
On the scheduled date, the university’s kitchen will prepare and pack the food, which will then be handed over for distribution to patients and their attendants.
