In a major initiative to enhance road safety, Lucknow's District Magistrate, Suryapal Gangwar, has reintroduced a refueling restriction for two-wheeler riders not wearing helmets. A directive has been issued from the DM's office to all petrol pumps in the city, instructing operators not to provide fuel to riders without helmets. Additionally, police vehicles will be stationed near petrol pumps to issue e-challans for violators.

The decision follows a recent meeting on road safety, where Gangwar highlighted the rising number of road accidents involving helmetless riders, stressing that such accidents pose risks not only to the riders but also to others on the road.

Additionally, the District Magistrate made wearing seat belts and helmets mandatory for all government employees, with those failing to comply being barred from entering government offices.
