Ahead of the upcoming religious events and festivals, the UP Police has devised a comprehensive safety plan across various UP districts.

Numerous festivals such as Ramadan, Navratri, Ram Navami and Eid al-Fitr are slated to take place in March and April. With the aim of guaranteeing a secure and harmonious atmosphere in UP districts, including Lucknow and Kanpur, the UP Police will implement vigilant measures to protect citizens from potential threats.

What are the guidelines that have been issued by UP Police?

UP DGP Prashant Kumar has issued comprehensive guidelines for zonal ADGs, commissioners, IGs, DIGs, SSPs, and SPs. These guidelines encompass a range of measures, from maintaining strict vigilance against anti-social elements to actively monitoring social media platforms to counter misinformation. Here are the key directives that have been issued:

  • To foster better coordination and address issues among different religious groups, police authorities of each district will facilitate peace committee meetings involving religious leaders.

  • Police authorities in each district will compile a comprehensive list of trouble spots and hot spots, analyzing past incidents to effectively manage potential controversies.

  • The intelligence network will be bolstered to ensure heightened vigilance against anti-social and communal elements.

  • Adequate police arrangements will be deployed at event venues, sensitive areas and procession routes during the festivals.

  • Surveillance efforts will be intensified using CCTV cameras and drones.

  • UP 112 PRV vehicle personnel have been instructed to enhance their emergency response capabilities.

  • Social media platforms will be closely monitored by cybersecurity teams to counter the spread of false information.
