Lucknow logs in 2096 fresh cases & 2 deaths in last 24 hours

COVID in Lucknow marked another high on Wednesday when 2,096 tested positive for the infection here. As per reports, the state capital recorded the largest number of fresh cases here in the last 24 hours, along with 2 virus-related casualties. Besides Lucknow, several other districts also reported a daily surge in the fresh load, ringing pandemic alarms across.

Chinat in Lucknow reports the highest number of COVID cases

Around 22 were health workers and 7 pregnant women have been reported immuno-compromised by COVID in Lucknow. The active caseload in the city now stands at 14,638 while total recoveries have mounted to 2,64,670. Area-wise, the highest number of cases were reported from Chinhat at 277, followed closely by Aliganj with 212 and Alambagh at 203.

At the state level, Uttar Pradesh reported 10,937 fresh coronavirus cases on Wednesday, mounting its active caseload at 80,342. At least 23 lives have been claimed by Covid in the state, in the last 24 hours, pushing the total death count to 23,106. Alongside Lucknow, Gautam Buddha Nagar with 710, COVID cases, Ghaziabad with 501, Kanpur city with 487 and Meerut with 434 infections are under the pandemic radar.

Even though there is seems to be a sustained decline in COVID cases in the state, experts suggest that it is too early to say that the third wave has peaked. Accordingly, the health department has urged people to not be eased out by the drop in daily cases and continue to follow all COVID protocols.
