Lucknow sees first winter rain, mercury takes a dip ahead of Christmas; details here

Today's temperature: 22°C high, 10°C low.

Lucknow woke up to a chilly Tuesday morning marked by drizzle and overcast skies. The city witnessed its first spell of winter rain, which began late last night, resulting in a noticeable drop in mercury levels.

The Indian Meteorological Department had earlier forecast rainfall for this week, attributing it to a low-pressure zone forming over the Bay of Bengal. This system is drawing moisture-laden winds into the region, causing the current spell of rain.

Consequently, Lucknow is unlikely to see any sunshine today, with the maximum temperature predicted to reach 22°C (2 degrees below yesterday's max) and the minimum hovering near 10°C. The city may experience scattered showers throughout the day, along with moderate fog during the night hours.

Further rainfall is expected on December 27 and 28 due to the impact of western disturbances, which could bring a sharper dip in temperatures. Despite the weather change, Lucknow’s air quality remains a concern. The city's AQI stands at 313, falling in the 'Very Poor' category.
