Uttar Pradesh is set to host the 19th National Jamboree of the Bharat Scouts and Guides from November 23 to 29 at the Defence Expo Ground in Vrindavan Yojana. The week-long event, returning to the state after 61 years, will bring together more than 32,000 participants, including 2,000 delegates from the Asia-Pacific region.

Showcase of crafts, food & cultural diversity

The Jamboree will offer a comprehensive glimpse of India through craft, cuisine and folk traditions. A dedicated ODOP pavilion will display Banarasi and silk sarees, Chandauli’s zari-zardozi, Lucknow’s Chikankari, Agra’s petha, Ghazipur’s jute wall-hangings and Jaunpur’s woollen carpets.
Officials noted that the platform will boost visibility for artisans and strengthen international demand for Uttar Pradesh’s signature crafts.

The cultural spread will extend to food and performance art, with participants tasting regional favourites such as puri-kachori, jalebi, chaat, Banarasi paan and traditional sweets. Folk performances and traditional attire will showcase the state’s diversity.

‘Mini India’ experience for young participants

The venue is being developed as a “mini India”, with state-wise accommodation blocks, a central ceremonial arena and a temporary market and food court offering regional cuisines. Interestingly, a temporary planetarium by the Department of Science and Technology will allow children to observe solar movements by day and stars by night through telescopes.

Health & connectivity strengthened

As per reports, to manage the footfall of over 40,000 people, a dedicated telecom tower is being installed for better network connectivity. The health department has prepared a 100-bed temporary hospital, supported by 15 round-the-clock dispensaries, 50 doctors, 100 paramedics, ambulances and reserved ICU beds at nearby hospitals.
