Lucknow University Professor Dhruv Sen Singh wins National Geoscience Award

The Geologist was selected for NGA 2019 and is expected to be conferred the award in mid-July.

Bringing honour to the city, Professor Dhruv Sen Singh of Lucknow University has bagged the National Geoscience Award (NGA) for his unparalleled contributions in the field of geo-environmental studies. As per reports, the Geologist was selected for the honour in 2019 for his works in paleoclimate, paleoenvironment research and is expected to be conferred the award in mid-July. Sen's study covers the prospect of climate change and monsoon variability with reference to rivers, glaciers, and lakes which not only makes a significant feat for ecology but also inspires young geologists, ecologists and environmentalists in Lucknow to make their own mark in the field.

Marking over 10 years of contribution!  

A member of the first and second Indian expeditions to Arctic in 2007 and 2008, Professor Sen has a list of honours and accolades pre-fixing his name. The geologist has worked to unravel facts behings natural events on geological issues and socio-economic aspects and has previously been the recipient of the state's Vigyan Ratna, Shikshak Shree and Saraswati Samman.

The latest NGA Award is now the most revered feather in his cap, which Sen claims to be the encouragement to do more relevant work in the field of earth sciences. The Union honour of NGA was instituted in 1966 as the highest award in the field of geo-science studies and is conferred annually by the Central Ministry of Mines to invigorate scientific tempor, among geoscienties across the country. The award marks the contribution of an individual for relevant work presented in a decade.
