A third-year CSE student from Lucknow University, Shivam Singh and his team of two others- Siddharth Singh and Vikas Rathore, have secured 75,000 USD (technical credits) from Xartup Investment to fund their startup. The initiative, ‘Oregen’, is a new-age skills development platform that comes with a gamified learning experience. The channel’s primary intent is to bridge the yawning gaps between today’s education system and the market requirements, for students in tier 2 or tier 3 cities.

Talking about the idea behind the objective of this launch, Shivam Singh, mentioned that the students who are currently studying in tier 2 and tier 3 cities or average colleges, have to face a significant share of struggles to bag jobs. This issue stems from the fact that these pupils are unaware of the required skills for particular industries and markets because of the cavities in the education system. Hence, to tackle this backlog, Oregen was birthed, on the lines of a gamified learning channel.
Oregen teaches relevant skills in coordination with the modern world and in collaboration with top industry experts or universities, which further helps pupils to get their hands on the requisite tools for the right career choices. But the launch of the platform hasn’t been easy, added Singh.
Given that usually investors do not trust students with their capital, the formation of this startup was a back-breaking task. Shivam and his team, prepared a pitch deck and elaborate plans detailing their business, competitive advantage and a financing scheme for the process.
Oregen to be available on Play Store soon
After knocking on the doors of more than 20 investors and answering intense questions, Singh and his teammates, finally procured the needed funds from Xartup Investment. Now, with the aid of this, the team is preparing a minimum viable product (MVP) of their startup and soon it will be available on Play Store. Consequently, students will be able to download this app and pick up skills from leading market leaders at no cost at all, which will surely lead to better job offers for them. The team is also reaching out to students for reviews, so that the platform can be further polished for usage.
The Training and Placement Cell of FoET, Lucknow University, is also providing full mentorship and guidance to the three members, to make Oregen a success.
