Although daytime temperatures in Lucknow have become increasingly warm, with bright sunlight causing discomfort, the evenings continue to offer relief with pleasant and breezy conditions. The maximum temperature is expected to reach 37°C today, while the minimum remains at a cooler 18°C. Following last year’s severe heatwave in Uttar Pradesh, similar weather patterns are anticipated in the coming months.
The Uttar Pradesh government has started further preparations to stay prepared for the heatwave conditions in the upcoming months, and safeguard the state's residents. The state CM has directed all departments to implement preventive measures to safeguard public health. Authorities are prioritising preparedness, resource allocation, and emergency response strategies to minimise risks posed by extreme heat conditions.
Key aspects of the plans:
- To enhance public awareness, a statewide campaign will be launched to educate citizens about heatwave risks. The State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) has issued guidelines to all districts, emphasizing proactive measures.
- For timely alerts, the government has introduced a system leveraging the 'Sachet' app and the Integrated Early Warning Portal, ensuring the rapid dissemination of severe weather warnings across the state.
- Recognising the severity of heatwaves, the government will implement a state-level action plan.
- Additionally, city-specific action plans have been developed for Agra, Jhansi, Lucknow and other districts to address unique regional challenges.
