In exchange of the tigress, Lucknow zoo will send a lioness 'Chinki' with four pairs of pelicans, two pairs of red jungle fowls and a pair each of sarus cranes and golden pheasants to the Arignar Anna Zoological Park in Chennai.

Lucknow zoo will house 3 white tigers after the exchange

The tigress will be escorted to Lucknow by a team of biologists, doctors, keepers and drivers. Furthermore, the feline will reach the zoo on November 27 after which it will be quarantined for a duration of 15 days.

Presently, the Lucknow zoo houses a white tigress 'Vishakha' and its offspring 'Jay', living in two separate enclosures in the zoo. The new tigress 'Chinki' will be partnered along with Jay after following the quarantine procedure.

Before this white tigress, 'Geeta' was transported from Lucknow to Saheed Ashfaqullah Khan Zoological Park of Gorakhpur in 2021.
