The ICC T-20 World Cup is a 16-team tournament that is slated to be played between October and November this year. While nine locations have been proposed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India, the venues will be picked after reviewing the country's COVID-19 situation.

The ICC also has backup venues in Sri Lanka and UAE but their sole focus is currently invested in India, read reports. The council is also monitoring the current IPL matches, where 8 games have been played by contesting teams, under two bio-bubbles for maximum safety and precaution

While the ICC teams have already done the initial recces of a few venues, the current surge of coronavirus cases in India and the emergent second wave are delaying the final outcome. Reportedly, ICC teams are likely to visit the venues to check the preparations by April 26
