Gone are the days when monuments could be used for free to create a fairytale backdrop for wedding shoots in Lucknow.

Owing to the new circular by Hussainabad and Allied Trust (HAT), due fees will now be charged for pre and post-wedding shoots at monuments that fall in the area of Hussainabad Trust. The list includes Lucknow heritage sites like Bada and Chhota Imambaras, Rumi Darwaza, Clock Tower and Satkhanda. Photoshoots for weddings and other functions taking place at these historical places is a common site.

Coming into force from January 4 onwards, ₹2,000 will be collected for 2 hours per shoot at the premises of these buildings.

Funds to go into conservation of heritage sites

“As per the new rules, we will now be levying Rs 2,000 for each wedding shoot that is scheduled around heritage sites such as Bada Imambara and Chhota Imambara, Rumi Darwaza, Picture Gallery, Satkhanda, and the Clock Tower. The pass will be valid only for two hours and once the time limit lapses, a new pass will have to be availed,” Assistant Superintendent at HAT, Habibul Hasan shared.

In this manner, it has been estimated that funds amounting to as much as ₹50,000-60,000 per day could be generated during the peak of wedding season. This revenue will be utilised in the proper care and management of the heritage monuments.

Teams have been assigned to keep vigil around these areas and ensure the rule is being followed during the experimental exercise. Contingent on the same, dedicated counters will be installed for bookings.
