Lucknow's IT hub Vibhuti Khand plagued by potholes; residents demand repair

Major roads near UPSIC, Starbucks, and CGST office are pothole-ridden.

Residents and professionals in Vibhuti Khand, Lucknow’s thriving IT hub, are grappling with severe disruptions caused by the deteriorating state of its roads. Key stretches, including those behind the UPSIC building, outside Hilton Garden Inn, near Starbucks, behind the Summit building, around the Vibhuti Khand Police Station and CGST office, are riddled with deep potholes, uneven surfaces, and broken edges. These conditions make daily commutes not only uncomfortable but increasingly hazardous, leaving both residents and commuters frustrated.

Commuters and residents demand urgent repairs

The situation in Vibhuti Khand has worsened following recent rains, with waterlogged potholes causing significant damage to vehicles. Local employees and residents are increasingly frustrated by the lack of repairs, despite numerous complaints. “It’s ironic that a hub with top IT firms and key government offices is struggling with such poor infrastructure”, said Anjali, a software engineer working in the area.

The crumbling infrastructure not only disrupts daily commutes but also risks tarnishing the area's image, potentially deterring investors and clients. Recently, potholes on Lohia Path were patched up with basic repair work, rather than undergoing a full-scale reconstruction, further highlighting the lack of long-term solutions.

Commuters are now hoping for swift action as the unsafe road conditions continue to impede mobility and pose safety hazards in one of Lucknow’s key locations.
