Lucknow's KGMU introduces prestigious gold medal for meritorious students in Dental Sciences

The award is in honour of Tripura's Chief Minister, a KGMU graduate.

King George’s Medical University (KGMU), Lucknow, has introduced a gold medal, in honour of Tripura's Chief Minister Manik Saha. The award will be presented annually to the top-performing student in the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery, a discipline the CM himself has excelled in.

The decision follows Saha’s inspiring visit to the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in November 2024. In response, Saha expressed his gratitude on social media, calling the moment nostalgic and thanking the entire KGMU community for the honour.

A renowned oral and maxillofacial surgeon, Saha completed his dental studies at KGMU before becoming Tripura's Chief Minister. His legacy also includes the establishment of Tripura's first dental college in 2022. The introduction of this gold medal marks a significant recognition of his contributions to the medical field.
