The Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) in Lucknow has been awarded the prestigious A++ grade by NAAC. With this achievement, SGPGI has made history as the first government medical institution in Uttar Pradesh to receive the highest possible grade.

The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), which evaluates the educational standards and teaching quality of higher education institutions across India, awarded SGPGI an A++ grade with a CGPA of 3.66. This recognition is valid for a period of five years, marking a significant milestone in the institute’s ongoing pursuit of academic excellence.

Third government institution in Lucknow to earn NAAC A++ Grade

According to SGPGI's Director, Prof. RK Dhiman, the institute submitted its application along with all necessary documents in June of the previous year. Following a thorough inspection by the NAAC team in November 2024, the results have now been officially announced.

With this achievement, SGPGI joins the ranks of Lucknow University and Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Central University, becoming the third government institution in the city to earn an A++ grade from NAAC.
