Travelling on national highways is all set to get costlier for Lucknowites, as NHAI has announced a hike of up to 14% in toll tax. The new toll fee structure, which will be applicable from April 1, will see an increase in daily toll tax rates and monthly toll passes, depending on the type and weight of vehicle in question.

Cost of monthly toll passes will also increase

It must be noted that there are currently six toll booths spread across national highways which connect Lucknow to nearby districts. These include highways connecting Lucknow to Unnao, Barabanki, Ayodhya, Sultanpur and Rai Bareli.

Once the NHAI toll tax hike is applicable from April 1, monthly toll for Light Commercial Vehicles (LCV) will cost up to ₹13,425 (Raunahi toll plaza on NH-28 that connects Lucknow and Ayodhya). Furthermore, an average hike of ₹5 per day while a hike of up to ₹1,150 on monthly toll passes will make road trips expensive for travelers.
