As many as 11 higher educational institutes from Uttar Pradesh have secured positions in the top 100 institutions in the overall category of the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2025, released by the Union Education Ministry on September 4.
IIT Kanpur ranked 5th overall, 4th in engineering, and 6th in research, maintaining its strong presence across categories.
Banaras Hindu University (BHU) retained 10th place overall and stood 6th in the university category.
IIM Lucknow improved from rank 7 to 5 in the management category, consolidating its position as one of India’s premier business schools.
King George’s Medical University (KGMU) rose three places to rank 85 overall, and 50th among universities.
Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) secured 10th place in the university category.
Other state universities in the top 100 include Amity University, Gautam Budh Nagar (22), Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (37), Shiv Nadar University (57), Madan Mohan Malviya University of Technology (68), Sharda University (87), and Lucknow University (98).
In total, 11 management institutes from Uttar Pradesh featured in the top 100, with IIM Lucknow leading the list. The state’s institutions earned recognition across engineering, management, medicine, research, and multidisciplinary education, reinforcing Uttar Pradesh’s growing role as a hub for higher education.
