Lucknow’s historic Shahi Zari procession, marking the first evening of Moharram, will begin from Bada Imambara on June 27 or 28, subject to moon sighting. This 188-year-old ceremony makes its way through iconic spots like Rumi Gate, Ghantaghar, Sheesh Mahal, and Rais Manzil, before concluding at Chota Imambara.
To ensure a safe and smooth procession, the city’s traffic police will implement major diversions across 15 key routes starting from 7 PM until the event concludes. Areas including Daliganj, Hardoi Road, Kaiserbagh, and Hussainabad will face restrictions, especially around the Imambara stretch.
Vehicles will be diverted through alternate routes such as IT Chauraha, Medical College Square, and Rakabganj Bridge.
Commuters are strongly advised to avoid the main procession route, which includes:
Pakkapul Square
Bada Imambara
Rumi Gate
Ghantaghar Tiraha
Chota Imambara
Traffic will be completely restricted on this stretch until the end of the Shahi Zari procession.
Motorists should plan their travel accordingly and follow diversion signs and police instructions for a hassle-free commute.
