Only 5% of used plastic is recycled successfully, tweets LMC; Here's how you can change that

LMC is calling upon Lucknowites to "rethink their plastic consumption".

The Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) has intensified its online awareness campaigns regarding sustainability and a healthier environment. In their latest tweet, LMC created awareness about plastic recycling by putting out some important numbers.

Urging folks in Lucknow to rethink plastic consumption, the LMC tweet informs us that only 5% of all the plastic we use is successfully recycled. Furthermore, a massive 79% of the plastic is accumulated in the natural environment or landfills.

Apart from completely saying 'No' to plastic, neatly segregating plastic waste is one way to improve these plastic recycling numbers. If this is carried out in a well-planned manner, a higher percentage of plastic can be re-used and recycled in several ways, via ragpickers or recycling agencies.
