Parts of Uttar Pradesh expected to be hit by heavy rainfall; Orange alert issued

The IMD has issued an orange alert for Lucknow and the surrounding areas in Uttar Pradesh due to the harsh weather conditions in the state. Previously, the IMD had raised high alert for a number of cities and districts in the state, warning of thunderstorms with heavy rainfall.

The IMD has predicted heavy rainfall in parts of Uttar Pradesh, with rain and stormy weather in Western Uttar Pradesh. In addition, the IMD has predicted light rainfall in the cities of Kanpur, Varanasi, and other parts of Uttar Pradesh.

Orange alert in East UP

On Wednesday, an orange alert was issued in East Uttar Pradesh by the Indian Meteorological Department, indicating heavy to extremely heavy rainfall likely to occur in the region on the 4th, 5th and 6th August.

Orange alert for West UP also

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the western region of the state is expected to receive significant to extremely heavy precipitation (between 115.6mm and 204.4mm) on the 2nd and 3rd of August.
