Passport offices & related service centres now operational in Lucknow, Kanpur & 2 other UP dists

With the complete withdrawal of COVID curfew restrictions in Uttar Pradesh, all the Passport Seva Kendras (passport service centres) in Lucknow resumed operations from Wednesday. As per reports, auxiliary post office service centres under the Regional Passport Office, have also kickstarted regular activities, to progress passport work. Besides the state capital, passport services have recommenced at Kanpur, Gorakhpur and Varanasi.

Several public offices have been permitted to be operational at 50% capacity, amid the various relaxations granted in the state unlocking order. Under the ambit of this ease, passport service centre operations are set to proceed as well, to restore normalcy after an extended shutdown due to the second wave of coronavirus. This also hints at the smooth flow of international travel, in accordance with safety norms, despite the pandemic threat.

People can contact and get updates on the status of their pending application at the Regional Passport Office, located at Gomti Nagar, read reports. Applicants who need to file origination certificates or other documents and necessary verifications, are permitted to come to these offices. These people need to adhere to pandemic-appropriate protocols and have to follow social distancing and compulsorily, wear a mask while at the office.
