With almost 7,000 registered pet dogs in the city of Lucknow, it is only fitting that the Lucknow Municipal Corporation has come up with a new solution to manage them. If you’re a pet parent in Lucknow, then it would be wise of you to get a registered pet dog license by the LMC, before January 15.
A few dog owners in the city have already dealt with the hand of the LMC and have had to pay up a fine to retrieve their detained pooches. Here’s all you need to know about pet licenses in Lucknow.
What’s the update?
The LMC is on a roll when it comes to detaining dogs, mostly pets, in the city. Earlier this week, more than three dog owners had to cough up a fine, in order to get their beloved pets back. Certainly, you wouldn’t want the same fate for your pooch, which is why you need to get an all-new pet license.
The LMC has already rounded up no more than 12 pet dogs who were found with their owners and this should urge you to get a license as soon as you can. The simple reason behind this move is to keep a tab of all pet dogs in the city, for clinical records.
Fines to be paid!
If you happen to find yourself and your pooch in such a situation, you will have to pay a fine. For small dogs, you will have to cough up ₹300, for local dog breeds, ₹200 and for big dogs, the fine is no more than ₹500.
Teams for eight zones across the city have been identified and they will ensure that all is in order. Door to door inspections will also be made, as a part of the regular checks.
You can get a pet license for your four-legged friends at any one of the Zonal Offices or at Lalbagh, where the main headquarters of the cell is. For this, you will have to pay an additional fee as well.

Pet owners in Lucknow must comply with these rules if they want to stay safe from the LMC’s crackdown. Though the city has a massive problem of stray dogs, it is surprising to see that the LMC is cracking down on pet dogs rather than the stray ones. At any rate, the right thing to do would be to get a license as soon as you can.
