Khushbu Kirti

Illuminating Ayodhya far and wide, where every house and every temple, ghat, and kund will be adorned with bright earthen lamps at the glorious Deepotsav 2023.

This year will mark yet another edition of the record-setting affair, with the authorities planning on lighting 21 lakh diyas. Deepotsav, the large-scale tradition of which began in March 2017 in Ayodhya, saw about lighting of some 15.76 lakh diyas last year.

Deepotsav, this year, will be hosted in all glory on the eve of Diwali (expected date: November 11), and before the consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla at Ayodhya's Ram Temple in January, 2024.

What's in store at Deepotsav 2023?

The Ayodhya Deepotsav also incorporates, each year, a cultural banquet of artistes hailing form numerous countries. Classical musicians, folk artistes, theatre performers and more join hands to create a symphony of memories for the spectator.

At the same time, earthen lamps or diyas mark the symbolic lighting of the lamps whilst rendering peaceful vibes. These are usually set afloat at the Ram Ki Paidi ghat on the widespread Saryu River's banks, following a grand aarti.

Look out for all the more surprises in store for this year's Deepotsav and plan a thrilling getaway from all the bustle of the cities to head to the tranquil land for Diwali. Located at some 136 kms, the spiritual land of Ayodhya is an easy 2.6 hour drive from Lucknow (and a 4.4 hours road journey from Kanpur).
