Promoting intrastate tourism, chopper service to start between Lucknow, Prayagraj and Kapilvastu

Jatin Shewaramani

The state government of Uttar Pradesh has taken the initiative to enhance intrastate tourism by introducing helicopter services connecting the cities of Lucknow, Prayagraj, and Kapilvastu (near Gorakhpur).

The primary objective of this endeavor is to stimulate religious tourism in the region, as both Prayagraj and Kapilvastu hold significant religious importance. With the implementation of these chopper services, tourists arriving at the state capital's airport will be able to travel seamlessly to these revered destinations.

Dedicated heliports to be developed in all 3 cities

For starting these services, dedicated heliports will be established in all three cities, namely Lucknow, Kapilvastu and Prayagraj, to facilitate the commencement of the helicopter service. These heliports will be well-equipped with various amenities to ensure convenience for the public. The facilities will include waiting rooms, cafeterias, crew rooms and restrooms, among others.

Reportedly, the U.P. Directorate of Tourism has already initiated the process by inviting 'Expression of Interest (EOI)' for private sector participation in the development, operations, and maintenance of the heliports on a lease and development basis.
