PWD will soon be launching a roadway repair project in Lucknow, making the roads safer for commuters. From narrow, congested lanes to potholes, and broken and torn routes, there are plenty of issues persistent on several roads across the city, which will be rectified for the benefit of commuters.

As per reports, about 198 roads in Lucknow, including prominent areas like Faizullaganj and Alambagh, have been put under the purview of this scheme. A dedicated road widening, safety and beautification drive will also be initiated on these routes, to create a robust commute network.

The Public Works Department (PWD) of the state has marked a budget of ₹196 crores to repair and beautify about 253 km of road in Lucknow. Reportedly, the action plan for the same is ready and the project will commence as soon as the budget is approved by the state.

In this elaborate drive, the PWD will work to repair the damaged city roads and walls, fixing signboards and interlocking tiles of the approach roads. Widening of roads, reducing accident or risk factors and upgrading safety measures will also be incorporated.

According to this blueprint, about 13 roads in North, 41 in East, 20 in Cantonment, 24 in Bakshi Ka Talab, 41 in Central and 59 in Sarojininagar will be repaired.

• Road widening work will be done from Purnia to Hardoi bypass

• Road safety work will be done on Sapru Marg

• Road safety work will be done on the route from Gomti Nagar railway station to PNB

• The work of beautification of the intersection will be done on the road from Shaheed Path Bridge to Kathota Lake Square

• Pakri Bridge will be widened

• Free left turn will be constructed from Bangla Bazar intersection

• Interlocking tiles work will be installed from Gurudwara - Chander Nagar to Geetapalli Kailashpuri Marg

• The work of interlocking tiles will be done from Kanchana Bihari Marg to Kursi Road Marg

• The work of interlocking tiles will be done from Lekhraj to D-Block Ring Road via Shalimar Square

• The repair work of Guru Gobind Singh Marg will be done

• There will be repair work of internal roads of Smriti Vihar Colony

• Road widening work will be done from Purnia to Hardoi Bypass

• Work will be done by upgrading tiles from Faizullaganj Dhatigara Road to Gaughat

The project is expected to give a major facelift to Lucknow roads. It is going to pave way for convenient and easy travel, to the advantage of commuters.
