The Lucknow Jal Nigam recently installed undergorund power lines from Latouche Road to Qaiserbagh intersection, under the Smart City Mission. However, the development seems to have come at a pot-hole heavy cost for the city dwellers. Despite the completion of the pipeline work, the water department has put off the repairing of the road, which is now full of abandoned heavy pipes, water-clogged potholes, and piles of garbage. The road is so clogged that it has left market-frolickers with close to no space to walk resulting in huge traffic jams. Other than that, there is a huge parking problem in the area.

The biggest and busiest machinery market in Uttar Pradesh

As per the reports, Latouche Road has the biggest machinery market in the state, having over 1,200 shops, attracting around 6,000 customers on average. People from all over the state come here to buy and sell machines and tools on Latouche Road. Shivaji Marg, on other hand, has the biggest sanitary market, with about 350 shops attracting over 2,000 people daily.

The heavy densit against a broken landscape leaves the area in intense traffic snarls, which usually stretch from from the Qaiserbagh intersection to the Shivaji Marg. This has also discouraged several shoppers and traders to conduct their business from markets in vicinty. creating problems for shopkeepers and business owners. The woes are only escalating in wake of the ongoing monsoons.

President of Latush Road Vyapar Mandal, Satish Aggarwal, said “This is one of the biggest and busiest markets of Lucknow and such chaos is wasting the time of traders and people here. Even customers have stopped coming. Now that the rainy season has started, the situation is getting worse. We appeal to the government to finish this work at the earliest and beautify this market.”
