Schools in Lucknow to remain shut till January 7 in light of cold wave

The winter vacation in government primary and upper primary schools will continue till January 14.

With every passing day, the cold spell in Lucknow only seems to be getting stronger. Keeping this in mind, Surya Pal Gangwar - District Magistrate, Lucknow, has declared that all schools (private and public) be closed from January 4 till January 7, upto class 12. The said order applied to both urban and rural areas of the district, Lucknow.

Schools closed in view of cold wave

The said order by the DM applies to all schools in Lucknow, including the residential girls schools under Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) Scheme. Further, all teachers and non-teaching staff members (except emergency staff) are obligated to follow the order and stay at home till January 7. 

Meteorological Department on January 2, issued a cold wave warning for Lucknow. Following which, strict actions will be taken against those institutions which fail to comply, stated DM, Lucknow.

Besides, for primary and upper primary schools, winter vacation will extend till January 14, 2023.
