Smart parking lots, greenery, footpaths & more: Lucknow's Kapoorthala Market to be revamped soon

Khushbu Kirti, Pawan Kaushal

Lucknow's bustling Kapoorthala market is in for a major revamp and is expected to turn into a smart market soon. The various developments include the construction of a small parking space in every complex and block of the market, along with a huge automatic mechanical parking.

A separate footpath will be built, on the side of the road, for pedestrians, and benches for people to break a sweat. A green patch, with trees and parks, will embellish the market place further, adding both beauty and peace to the thriving Kapoorthala.

All that you need to know about the revamp

Amidst other developments, more than a dozen small parking lots are expected to sprout in the market, with encroachments at parking lots removed. Parking spaces will also be provided around residential plots. Furthermore, railings along the edge will be installed, besides interlocking tiles.

Designs have been prepared with an objective of beautifying the intersections. The parks in the pipeline will be equipped with children's swings, an open gym, and so on. Water foundations and other structures will be restored. Moreover, certain routes will also turn into one-way roads in order to streamline traffic.

Improvements like proper wiring system, garbage disposal means, a uniform colour scheme, are also on the cards.

Developments to start next month

The design and drawing of the structural improvements, in the form of a plan, is being prepared by well-known architects and will be approved by the Lucknow Development Authority.

For the same, the market has undergone inspection by the authorities. Work on the over-all plan is slated to begin next month and implemented thereafter.
