In view of the Shab-e-Ashura procession of Muharram, traffic diversions will be implemented in Old Lucknow tonight, from 9 PM onwards. Reportedly, the Juloos (procession) will begin from Nazim Sahib’s Imambara in Chowk and will pass through key routes including Victoria Street, Akbari Gate, and the Mayfair Trisection. Thus, traffic movement in multiple routes of these areas will remain restricted.

Shab-e-Ashura, observed on the night preceding the 10th day of Muharram, holds deep religious significance for the Shia Muslim community. Given the spiritual importance of the occasion, a large number of devotees are expected to take part in the procession. Accordingly, authorities are placing heightened emphasis on both security and traffic management to ensure the event proceeds peacefully.

To maintain public safety and ensure smooth vehicular movement, the administration has implemented special traffic arrangements. Residents and commuters are advised to plan their travel in advance, keeping the restrictions in mind.

Readers are especially urged to avoid commuting through key areas of Old Lucknow, including the Mayfair Trisection in Hazratganj, the Heritage Stretch, Chowk, Nakkhas, Qaiserbagh, and other surrounding localities.
