Two Oxygen Express trains bring 90.78 metric tonnes of LMO to Lucknow on Sunday!

Easing the swelling demand for medical-grade oxygen, Lucknow welcomed two Oxygen Express trains packed with 6 tankers, early on Sunday morning. As per reports, the two services- one with four tankers and the other with two rakes, ferried a total of 90.78 metric tonnes of liquid medical oxygen (LMO) from Bokaro Steel Plant to Lucknow Charbagh Railway Station. Meanwhile, the 10th service of the oxygen delivery train left for a refill from Lucknow to Bokaro, with four empty tankers yesterday itself.

Under the state's 'Oxygen Operation', a major COVID respite arrived in Lucknow on Sunday morning, in the form of two rails of the Oxygen Express train. As per a railway press release, one train with four tankers packed with approximately 15 MT of LMO arrived on May 2, while the other one with two tankers, followed shortly. The second services carrying around 30.50 metric tonnes of LMO was sent to Bareilly, to ease availability there.

While a third service- the 10 the Oxygen Express, departed from Lucknow at around 5 AM on Sunday, towing about 4 empty tankers to the Bokaro Steel Plant and another service- the 11th train, was also flagged off on Monday morning. These two services will be plying on a priority corridor, once refilled, reducing their turnaround time and ensuring sufficient supply of medical-grade shortage amid the crucial hours of the pandemic.



Several such services are running across the country, Uttar Pradesh has been awarded the largest share of over 800 MT of medical-grade oxygen amid the COVID case explosion here. In the last 24 hours, about 29,192 cases were traced in the state, where capital Lucknow logged in 3,058 fresh cases. Parallelly, about 26 virus-related deaths were reported in the city today, pushing the toll to 18,848 casualties here.
