Empowering housing authorities across different districts of Uttar Pradesh, the state government has now vested them with the authority to acquire agricultural lands and alter their usage for township planning purposes.

From now on the housing authorities will can change the original land use while consolidating plots for the development of townships spanning up to 50 acres.

Previously, housing authorities were required to submit files for approval from the state housing department (UP Awas Vikas Parishad), leading to considerable delays of several months in township development.

More about the move

This move grants the housing authorities the capability to handle land use applications within the designated area governed by the master plan.

This adjustment aims to accelerate projects outlined under the government's township plans and foster organized urban development within pivotal cities.

Master Plan
The Master Plan represents a land use or infrastructure plan that outlines the policies, aims, and objectives for the next 20 to 30 years regarding community development and/or redevelopment at the local level.
