Mission Shakti 3.0 in UP to focus on sensitising men about Women's rights!

Launched on August 21, the third phase of Uttar Pradesh government's flagship program 'Mission Shakti' has now shifted its focus to sensitising men. With an aim to raise consciousness about the rights of females, amongst the male population, the Women's Welfare Department of Uttar Pradesh is organising awareness programs for the same. This campaign has touched more than 10 lakh citizens across 75 districts of the state, through seminars, workshops and other means of communication.

Over 4.5 lakh men sensitised in a period of 20 days!

In addition to the 5.94 lakh who have been informed about their rights in the state, around 4.80 lakh men have also been sensitised about the social and personal liberties of females. This notable record has been accomplished under the third phase of Mission Shakti, within a short span of less than a month.

Further, an official stated that additional work to raise awareness about legal rights among men is still underway. Therein, they will be educated about the benefits of the women's welfare schemes run by the government.

Moving forward with current interventions, UP Women's Welfare Department will continue to organise special awareness drives till September 21. As a part of this, Gram Sabhas of different blocks will form special teams, which will help in planning these events, to be conducted at the village level.

The campaign is targeted at raising awareness on issues like harassment of women and children, domestic violence, drug abuse, trafficking, child marriage, discrimination, child labour and other exploitations. Additionally, numerous laws and provisions related to violence against women and children will also be highlighted in these drives.

Under this campaign, a 'Swavlamban Camp' was also organised in various gram panchayats across the state. Rural citizens were informed about various ongoing schemes like Destitute Women Pension Scheme, Mukhya Mantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana and Mukhya Mantri Bal Seva Yojana through these camps. Besides, applications for the schemes related to self-employment opportunities were accepted at a one-stop centre, ensuring an easy process for the women.
