UP smart city mission: 10 cities to get ₹10k crore to complete remaining projects

Under the UP Smart City mission, 10 smart cities across the state will see projects worth over ₹10,000 crore become operational in the coming months. Currently, out of the 542 infrastructure projects sponsored by the state and central government, 343 have been commissioned with funds mounting to 4,757 crore have already been exhausted. With the boost in budget, authorities are looking to provide all kinds of facilities to the public.

Officials instructed to speed up remaining projects 

Concerned authorities in the state and the UP smart city mission officials have been instructed to fast-track the remaining 199 infrastructure projects to complete them by June 2023, which was set as the deadline for the completion of all projects.

As for the best performing cities, Agra and Varanasi have emerged as the two that have completed the maximum number of projects while also being the cleanest of the 10 smart cities.

It is noteworthy that the UP smart city mission is focused on strengthening water supply, sewerage system, waste management, public transportation, parking facilities and more in the 10 selected cities. These cities include Lucknow, Agra, Bareilly, Prayagraj, Jhansi, Kanpur, Aligarh, Saharanpur, Moradabad and Varanasi.
