The Uttar Pradesh government has approved the construction of indoor mini stadiums in 21 government intermediate colleges across 17 districts to promote sports at the school level. With an investment of ₹49 crore, each stadium will cost ₹4.92 crore, with ₹2.16 crore released as the first installment.

These stadiums are designed to provide students with top-tier sports facilities and opportunities to excel in various sports, including badminton, volleyball, and basketball.

Mini stadiums to reshape UP's sports culture

The Secondary Education Department reviewed proposals for 23 colleges, ultimately approving 21 due to land-related issues in Unnao and Ghazipur. Mini stadiums will be constructed in districts such as Kanpur Nagar, Mathura, Agra, Ayodhya, and Varanasi, with multiple stadiums planned for Bulandshahr, Ambedkar Nagar, and Gonda. Additionally, a mini indoor stadium is being developed at Jhansi’s Government Inter College as part of the Smart City initiative.

These stadiums are expected to foster sports culture and provide essential training for students in both rural and urban areas. The Uttar Pradesh government’s initiative will not only enhance sports infrastructure but also offer students a platform to compete at state-level competitions.
